Stigende europeiske strømpriser har stor innflytelse på de norske prisene, så lenge det er lite vindkraft og moderat tilsig i vassdragene.</p><p>I Sør-Norge har prisområdene skilt lag. Trekløveren Oslo (NO1), Kristiansand (NO2) og Bergen (NO5) har historisk sett hatt veldig like priser. Varmen øker energiforbruket til kjøling av bygninger. Dette kalles den hydrologisk balansen. Det er summen av vann i magasiner, snø i fjellet og grunnvann. For Norden totalt sett er underskuddet på vei mot 10 TWh.
